“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” — John 21:3 (ESV)
Purpose:
To share the Gospel with fishermen and support them in their walk with Jesus Christ.
Date:
Friday, April 14, 2023 from 6:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Location:
FM830 Boat Ramp, Willis, TX 77318 – Click Here for map. (Essentially, head west on FM830 and drive until you fall into the lake.)
Registration:
Free! Space is limited so register now. We will prioritize opportunities for those who have not attended Blast & Cast events in the past. Veteran Blast & Cast participants should find a way to volunteer and support the event.
Fishing:
We will spend the morning on beautiful Lake Conroe catching catfish with some great people. Volunteer boat owners will be more than happy to have you on their boat for a morning of good fun and fellowship all the while hopefully filling your coolers full of fish.
Meals:
Free lunch provided at 1:00 pm.
Rules:
- No perfect people allowed. Come as you are, no pretending.
- Alcohol will not be allowed on boats but will be allowed in moderation after the boat is on the trailer.
- Please be mindful of your language when youth participants are around.
- Have a good time.
What to bring:
- Valid Texas fishing license
- Everyone should bring their own fishing poles and associated gear. Don’t expect volunteer boat owners to lend out their gear or tackle
- Adults accompanied by a youth angler must bring a properly-sized life jacket for the youth angler.
- Cash for boat gas and ice.
- Boat snacks, and drinks, (no alcohol on the boats, please).
- Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.
- Filet knife and Ziploc bags – plan to clean your own fish, please.
- A cooler to bring fish home
- A willing attitude that’s eager to help make it work and have a good time – remember, everyone there is a volunteer, so set your expectations as though you are going on a weekend trip with friends.
Suggested tackle:
Plan to fish for catfish. Each fisherman should bring their own rod and reel (preferably a spinning reel) and tackle for fishing bulkheads (slip corks, split shot weights, hooks for shad and treble hooks). We recommend putting fresh line on reels if you haven’t done so in the last few months.
