Purpose:

To build meaningful relationships with other outdoorsmen for the purpose of leading them to, or back to, Jesus Christ.

Registration:

First registered first reserved…this event will fillup fast!  Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present at the event.

Lodging:

We will be staying at Proctor Lake Lodge, which is located at 224 Arrow Head, Comanche, TX 76442 and the phone number is (817) 691-0803. You can see more at http://www.ProctorLakeLodge.com/.  See the Lodge website and below for details on what to bring.

 Hunting:

We will be hunting approx. 30 mins from the Proctor Lake Lodge on Saturday and Sunday. As part of our discounted agreement, adults will not shoot birds to fill limits for the youth. We will observe all applicable laws and regulations and pick up our spent shells. Plan to clean your own birds.

Travel to fields:

We will be carpooling to the fields.

 Meals:

Snacks will be available Friday evening. Dinner will be provided Saturday night. Breakfast will be provided Saturday morning. Plan to eat out for lunch or bring something with you both days. There will be a limited amount of drinks available but bring your favorite soft drinks and lots of water.

 Freebies:

Door prizes will be given out Saturday night. If you’d like to donate door prizes, please let us know ASAP.

Rules:

  1. Perfect people are not allowed. Come as you are, no pretending.
  2. No drunkenness. Alcohol in moderation is allowed, but not in the fields, please.
  3. No profanity. We want to keep the environment kid friendly.
  4. Have a good time.

 What to bring:

  • Bedding: Pillow, sheets, blankets, towels, bathing rags and ear plugs
  • Everyone should bring their own shotgun, shells, and gear
  • Stool or chair to sit on in the field while hunting
  • Sunscreen, bug spray, hat, and sunglasses
  • Hunting or Field clothing and boots
  • Hunting License with Migratory bird stamp endorsement…MUST HAVE
  • Knife and Ziploc bags – plan to clean your own birds
  • A cooler and ice
  • Ice will be for sale there at the Lodge
  • Drinks and food for lunches and snacks
  • Lake toys, swimsuits and fishing gear for downtime at Proctor Lake (within walking distance)
  • A willing attitude that’s eager to help make it work and have a good time – remember, everyone helping is a volunteer, so set your expectations as though you are going on a weekend trip with friends.

Bring plenty of shells. It’s reported that the average is 5 to 7 shots for every downed dove. Another report put average kill rates at 3 birds per box of shells. For the 30 birds, that could be a lot of shells!

Keep in mind that shooting time begins 30 minutes prior to sunrise and ends at sundown. The drive to the fields is about 30 minutes.
